“Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen.”

— Brene Brown

Why counseling?

Why do I find myself feeling lonely, isolated, stuck, anxious, overwhelmed, and disconnected even from myself? Why do I sabotage any good relationship I get myself in to? Why have I lost interest in the things that once motivated me? And if there is freedom found through connection, then why do I feel so disconnected even in the relationships I do have?

If you are at a place where you find yourself asking any of these questions, you are not alone. And yes, there is hope. I often tell clients that getting to this place, feeling stuck and seeking out support, is the first, and arguably the most important, step toward healing. Our brain’s protection mechanisms have worked for this long; you have officially distracted, numbed out, and dissociated from pain, and consequentially a fundamental aspect of humanness. So yes, you have successfully flipped that switch off and avoided any uncomfortable, or most, or some, emotions. But now you have forgotten how to flip that switch back on or maybe these mechanisms have fallen flat.

Friend, you may find yourself feeling utterly hopeless, unmotivated, numb, and alone. But today, there is hope. Today you have decided to fight for your life back, and to metaphorically turn off that autopilot and step back into the driver’s seat of your life.

I believe one of the bravest things you can do is ask for help along the journey. Therapy is a place where you are able to be seen, explore the places in your heart that are left unknown to you, and consider taking risks and making wanted changes in your life. It can help you heal, develop healthy patterns, find hope, and experience a freedom that allows you to feel more connected to yourself and others.

While utilizing evidence based practices, we will identify negative patterns, explore areas you are stuck, understand core beliefs that impact your identity, and move forward with new paths of healing. I enjoy working with individuals struggling with hardships around trauma, anxiety, depression, identity struggles, eating disorders, shame, grief, life transitions, faith, and relationships.

If you choose to work with me, I will provide space for you to show up, unfiltered. No matter what circumstance you find yourself in, you were not meant to walk this journey alone. I am passionate about coming alongside you in order to create an environment where you can be fully received, exactly where you are.
